There are many ways by which candidates can join Indian army. Candidates can appear in the CDS exam and if get qualified can join the Army. Candidates with +2 as qualification can enter the Army through NDA. If you are a graduate then direct entry would be the best option. Another option available for engineering graduates is through Military engineering Services which are also through direct entry. For more information please visit the official website.

Hello friend,

Indian Army can be joined through many ways.
1. NDA - after 10+2
2. CDS- after degree.

Both exams are conducted by UPSC. First you'll have a written test. If you clear the exam, you will be called for SSB interview and medical check up.
If you clear both the rounds, then you are selected and you will be called up.

am the age of 24 now 2 completed in year 2005 and pursing degree.
i have to complete my degree in 2008, but still not yet. I this year i will complete it off. What i need to clarify is am taking 6 years to complete my degree instead of need to complete it in 3 years. Is any problem for joining army for candidates like me... Because of education profile timing.

I want to join army, but i had problem in education schedule. I had completed my +2 in 2005 and joined in degree of 3 years course group is mathematics,statistic and computer science. Problem is i have to complete my degree in 3 years ,but since back logs i had completed it in 6 years . Is i eligible for join in army .

what percentage is required in class 12 examination to join nda?

Hi friend,

There are two types of exams for joining in to INDIAN ARMY. You must

clear one of the two exams to enter into the indian army.

They are NDA and CDS exam.

NDA exam is for joining army as a soldier. You can write this exam

with just a pass in 12th std. That is after finishing school you can write NDA

exam.

CDS exam allows you to enter any of the three defense services. And

it allows you to enter inside as an officer. This exam needs a graduate. Which

means you need to finish a degree to get eligible for writing CDS exam.

The qualifications for the Indian Army is as follows:-

--> 10+2 pass candidates with physics , chemistry , maths with a minimum of 55-60% marks.

--> Only unmarried male candidates can apply for it.

--> Age limitation is between 16.5 - 19 years with no relaxation.

--> Minimum height should be 157.5 cm with 5 cm chest expansion.

--> No color blindness with 6/6 eyesight.

Yes U can apply trough CDS, or can join Indan army as sepoy and then apply for commission from your service but if u have sufficent age....

Its great opportunity to you to serve for your own country,if you have the caliber you must join the Indian Army.

As you have not yet completed your graduation level,you have to complete it ,then you can apply for then you can get chance to take admission in Indian Army.

There are some selection procedure such as:

Combined Defense Services (CDS) Exam is generally conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) to recruit the Indian Military Academy(IMA), Officers Training Academy(OTA), Naval Academy and Air Force Academy(AFA)


According to the Eligibility Criteria:

i)For IMA and OTA you must have any degree from any recognized University.

ii)For Naval Academy you should have B.Sc in Physics or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering(BE).

iii)For (AFA) you should have the degree of recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering(BE)

Age Limit:

i)For IMA:19-24 Years
ii)For OTA:19-23 Years
iii)For Naval Academy:19-22 Years
iv)For AFA :19-25 Years


They select the students through the
i) Written Test
ii)Intelligence & Personality test
iii)Medical test.

Exam Pattern
i) Written Test

for IMA / Naval Academy / AFA
All the three papers are of objective type containing the
English
General Knowledge
Elementary Mathematics
total 300 marks,each paper 100 marks.

for OTA
All the two papers are of objective type containing the
English
General Knowledge
total 200 marks,each paper of 100 marks.

ii)Intelligence & Personality test :Generally here checks the Personality of the candidate,GD,group planning, physical fitness test, interview, small lectures on general issues & psychological tests. etc...

iii)Medical test.
After getting selected in interview ,the candidates are called for medical examination which is conducted by Military Hospitals.

Pre-Commission training After getting final selected the candidates are called for Training.

SIR,you have many choices. UPSC conducts exam for NDA TWICE A year .you can write it after completing your 12th std exam,age limit -16.5to 19years. you can join indian army after doing your graduation and for that u can appear for CDS exam,conducted twice a year by UPSC, as a permanent commissioned officer. you can also join army as a short serice commissioned officer . other option is for territorial army, it is a part of indian army which helps army during drought,floods,earthquakes etc.for girls OTA is a nice option. but please mention your interest and stream in 12th std.

For this you have to qualify the national Defence Academy(N.D.A)
