This year vacancies for the post of clerk was as high as 8500. Every year SBI issues notification whenever the number of vacancies goes high. To apply for this exam you need to satisfy certain eligibility criteria which i have stated below. Please take a look at it.

SBI Clerk Exam Details:

You need to pass your higher secondary exam or its equivalent from a recognized institution with not less than 60 percent of marks. The aggregate marks to secure for the reserved category is 55 percent.

For candidates with a bachelor's degree however there is no fixed percentage of marks to maintain. You just need to get the pass marks and this degree can be achieved in any discipline.

If you have not passed your class 12 exam but have done a full time diploma degree whose duration is not less than two years then also you will be considered eligible.

It will work in your favour if you are well versed in english or you know how to write in english properly. Along with it little bit of basic computer knowledge is also required.

Your age for this exam should vary between 18 and 28 years. This is applicable for the general category only. There is age relaxation for the following categories:

SC/ST candidates: 5 years.
OBC candidates: 3 years.
Physically Handicapped Students: 10 years.

On satisfying the above mentioned eligibility criteria does not guarantees a seat in the bank.

The selection procedure is based on the combined marks attained in the written examination and personal interview taken together.

For the written examination generally objective questions comes from the following sections: General Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Marketing Aptitude/Computer Knowledge.

Apart from the english paper you will get the opportunity to answer rest of the papers either in english or hindi.

You should carefully answer each question because there is negative marking for every wrong answer. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

On getting selected you will be called for the interview session. A maximum of three people will be called for each vacant seat.

After getting selected you will be on a probation period for a period of six months. During this time your performance will be strongly scrutinized.
