IFS:- Indian Forest Service.

IFS Exam is organized by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) every year.


Educational Qualification for IFS Exam:

-Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering from recognized Universities.

-Candidate appear in the final year exam of above such program are also eligible to appear in IFS Examination.


AGE limit for IFS Exam:

-For General category candidate:- 21 to 30 years.

-For SC/ST category candidates:- 21 to 35 years.

-For OBC category candidates:- 21 to 33 years.



Selection Procedure for IFS Exam:

IFS Exam Selection process consist of two stages..

-Written Test
-Interview


IFS Written Exam Pattern:

Paper I: General English: 300 marks.
Paper II: General Knowledge: 300 marks.
Optional Papers:
Paper III: 200 marks.
Paper IV: 200 marks.
Paper V: 200 marks.
Paper VI: 200 marks.
Total: 1400 marks


IFS interview carries 300 marks.



Number Of Attempts allowed for IFS Exam:

-4 Attempt are allowed for General Candidates

-7 Attempts are allowed for OBC Candidates.

- SC/ST Candidates has no limit on attempt.

IFS - INDIAN FOREST SERVICE/INDIAN FOREIGN SERVICE, to become an IFS officer onehas to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.

The age limit for aforesaid Civil Service exam is 21 to 30 years for General Category candidate when the upper age has been relaxed in case of SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC up to 3 years.

Hence SC/ST candidate can appear for the exam from 21 to 35 years when OBC candidate can appear for the exam from 21 to 33 years.

Apart from this age criteria, one must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects for those applying for Indian Forest Service and Graduate in any stream for Indian Foreign Service from a recognised University.

Age Limit:
General - 21 to 30 yrs
OBC - 21 to 33 yrs
SC/ST - 21 to 35 yrs
Defence Personnal - 21 to 33 yrs
Ex serviceman - 21 to 35 yrs

Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
