for admission in to the NIT's you need to crack the JEE-Mains exam.
50% marks is considered of the JEE-mains score and the rest 50% is taken from the board exam.
so you need to get into top 500 rank in your States or 40,000 rank all over India to be sure of getting admission into NIT's.

if you perform well in the mains exam and come in to 1.5 lacks students ,then you can even go for admission in IIT's via giving the JEE-mains exam.

good luck

. Ans-you are. Of gen. Category so you must have to score more than 180 in jee main to take ADM. In NIT it is good that you are get 90%in your board .. I also a gen category but preparing for IIT and I also need the marks as I say

To get selected for NIT you must have qualified for IIT-JEE Advanced by giving IIT-JEE Mains exam. Also in JEE Advanced you must have crossed the minimum cut-off marks.

Best of luck.
