mechanical engineering branch is related to the mechanical systems, thermodynamics, kinematics etc.It is concerned with the mechanical systems. energy related fields.
production engineering is the study of manufacturing technology with management science. Production engineer are aware of the management challenges interrelated production.

Difference between Mechanical and Productions branch:--

>> Mechanical Engineering deals with the kind of energies produced from engines,their conversion and other all stuff about the motion parts and mechanism.

while

>> Production Engineering deals with the a core subject of the above that is the manufacturing process.They contain MOS,MMS,WELDING,BRAZING and Various other process in very detailed process.These also deals with types of materials used and the cost expenditure of them.
