Annealing, in metallurgy and materials science, is a heat treatment wherein a material is altered, causing changes in its properties such as strength and hardness. It is a process that produces conditions by heating to above the recrystallization temperature and maintaining a suitable temperature, and then cooling.

It was taught in class 10th.

Annealing is nothing but hardening something by heating. It may vary for different purposes as follows..

-> Mettalurgy - Annealing : is a heat treatment wherein a material is altered, causing changes in its properties such as strength and hardness.

-> Glass - Annealing : Heating a piece of glass to remove stress.

-> Biology - Annealing : DNA or RNA pairing by hydrogen bonds to a complementary sequence, forming a double-stranded polynucleotide.
