What is the educational requirement for CTET examination?


I am a graduate in Economics and have a PG Diploma in Montessori TTC. I have 3 years experience in teaching as well (2 years in Primary and 1 year in K.G.). Am I eligible to write CTET examination?

Yes, you are eligible to write CTET Examination.

As per the eligibility criteria defined for CTET exam, a candidate is eligible if he/she possess following:
  • Passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Education.
  • Passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks or appearing in final year of 4 year Bachelor course of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Completed Graduation or are in the final year of your 2 year diploma course.

After graduation, If you have not completed teacher training course like B.Ed, Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor's in Elementary Education, then you are not eligible for CTET. CTET is conducted by CBSE and having 2 papers. Paper I is to become a teacher for Class I to V and Paper II is to become a teacher for Class VI to VIII. Eligibility criteria is different for both papers.

CTET Eligibility

For Class I to V
You must have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing final year of 2 years diploma in elementary education or 4 years bachelor's in elementary education course.
OR
You must have passed graduation with at least 50% marks and passed B.Ed from a recognized university.

For Class VI to VIII
You must have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing final year of 4 years bachelor's in elementary education or 4 years B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed from a recognized university.
OR
You must have passed graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed course from a recognized university.
