I just wanted to get this one thing clear - Is the eligibility for IES examination is to pass from any engineering branch, or I need to have a degree in one of the following streams -

1.Mechanical Engg.
2.Civil Engg.
3.Electrical Engg.
4.Electronics and Communication Engg. ???

In order to be eligible for the Engineering Service Exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission, candidate needs to hold a degree in any discipline of Engineering, but the examination is conducted only in the following disciplines:

Mechanical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering

So, basically, candidate don't need to hold a degree in engineering in a specific discipline but will have opt for any one of the four disciplines of engineering mentioned above.

Apart from being an engineering graduate, the candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years. The maximum age limit is relaxed upto 3 years for OBC category and 5 years for Sc/St category.

for giving ies exam, the student must have done b.tech in any one of the following trades.
1.Mechanical Engg.
2.Civil Engg.
3.Electrical Engg.
4.Electronics and Communication Engg

also there is age limit of 21 to 30 years. for students of sc/st there is relaxation in 5 years of age.
also student must pass the b.tech wit atleast 60%marks to become eligible for giving the exam.

Yes you have to completed your engineering degree from above discipline and then only you are eligible to apply for IES examination.

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year.

To apply for this examination the candidate have to qualified engineering degree from a recognized University and there is no Specific percentage required for this examination.final year of degree course may also eligible to apply for this examination.

The Engineering degree in following discipline :-

~~Civil Engineering
~~Mechanical Engineering
~~Electrical Engineering
~~Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.

M.Sc candidate may also eligible to apply for this examination but some specific branches only.

Age limits for this examination,the candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years at the time of appearing for this examination and relaxation is given to the reserved categories.

Upper age limits :-

~~5 year for SC/ST categories.
~~3 year for OBC categories.

Yes you have to get degree in Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical/ E.C.E engineering..

If you complete you degree in other branch then you are not eligible for I.E.S exam..

Age limit for Exam is 21-30 year..

The eligibility criteria for IES Exam is as follows:

Age limits :

21-30 years on 1st August of the year of Examination. (Upper age limit relax able for S.C.s/S.T.s, O.B.C.s and certain other categories).


Educational Qualifications :

A degree in Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain Services/posts only.
Candidates appearing at their engineering degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete. Candidates qualifying on the result of the written part of the Examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.

IES-INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE conducted by UPSC every year for recruitment of engineers in the Top Technical post under Central Government particularly in the following Branches:-

Please mark exam code as ENGG and not as IES. IES means Indian Economic service. Be careful in this aspect.

Last date for application : Usually in the first week of March in year of conduct of examination (offline)

Date of examination : Commences from usually in the last weeks of June in the year of conduct of examination

For IES entrance exam you should be in age group 21-30 years on the first day of august of the year of examination.

Educational Qualifications:
You should be engineering graduate. However, candidates studying in last semester of engineering can also appear in entrance test but they are required to produce the proof of passing engineering degree.

For some selected posts of engineering services, candidates who are holding MSc degree in wireless communications, electronics, radio physics & radio engineering.

The minimum criteria for the IES exam is that you have to be graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% ,and your age limit shoud be between 21 -30 years ,There is age relaxation for both SC/ST-5years and for OBC its 3 years .For the present year the form will come on 30july,and last date will be Aug 29th,The exam will be held in the month of December .So I would say start preparing now itself and increase your chances of getting selected .!!!!!!!

IES - Indian Engineering Service conducted by UPSC every year for appointment of young Engineers in the top technical post under various Department under Central Government.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. Degree exam or pass in any stream preferably in Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

The candidate from any stream can write IES but has to write in any branch from Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication branch.

There is no requirements of percentage, you just need to be a passed student.
Your age should be in between 21-30 years of age.
