What is Initial public Offering ? please elaborate it briefly...plaese tell me what is it

ipo means initial public offering. when any company is going to list to NSE or BSE (these are two stock exchange). so they need to sell there fresh share to public.that why it is called initial public offering. and otherwise previously listed company want to sell share to public than it is called FPO(Followup public offering)

What is IPO -

IPO Stands for Initial Public Offering and it is the Mode of Selling company security or shares first time to the public in the primary market.

>> So, We can say that the IPO is first sale of stock by a private company to the public in the Primary Market, So it is the Way to collecting funds form the public for the purpose of Starting New Projects.

So, the Main Purpose/Aim to launch IPO is to Raise Money That They need for Business Expansion and New Business Opportunities.

>> And If you are Interested to Buy OR to apply for an IPO then for this you must have a Demat Account and then you can apply for the shares directly through your demat account and those who don't have any demat account then they can Purchase or Obtained IPO form the stock exchanges or through local dealers/Brokers.
