Respected Sir, I am Sruthi and belong to General caste category. I would like to know about the maximum number of attempts allowed to write the Civil Service prelims examination for General category candidates. And, what about other caste category candidates?

Maximum number of attempts allowed for Civil Service prelims exam is given below-

1.The number of attempts for IAS exam: General Category: 6 attempts till 32 years of age.

2.The number of attempts for IAS exam: OBC: 9 attempts till 35 years of .

3.The number of attempts for IAS exam: SC/ST: unlimited attempts till 37 years of age.

Civil Service examination is conducted by UPSC. It is conducted in three stages.

Number of attempts -

General - 6.

OBC - 9.

SC/ST - till the upper age limit 37 years beginning 21 years.

The maximum number of attempts allowed for different category candidates for qualifying the Civil Services examination are as below :-

* General category candidates :- 6 attempts.

* OBC category candidates :- 9 attempts.
