I am in BA first year and I am also preparing for Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination. My age is 17 years and one of my friend told that I'm not eligible at this age. Is it correct? What should be my minimum age then?

# CDS stands for Combined Defence Services.

# CDS Examination is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

# CDS Examination is conducted primarily for recruitment in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

# After cracking the CDS Examination, one will go into following branches for training before induction into defence services:

* Indian Military Academy (IMA)
* Indian Naval Academy (INA)
* Air Force Academy (AFA)
* Officer Training Academy (OTA)

# The prescribed age limit:

* Indian Military Academy (IMA) -- 19-24 Years
* Indian Naval Academy (INA) -- 19-22 Years
* Air Force Academy (AFA) -- 19-23 Years
* Officer Training Academy (OTA) -- 19-25 Years

The full form of CDS is Combined Defence Services.

Union Public Service Commission conducts this exam two times every year. The eligibility criteria for exam:

1. You must be a graduate from a recognized university to apply for OTA and IMA.

2. Bachelor's degree in science or engineering is necessary to apply for Air force or Naval academy.

3. The minimum age limit is 20 years. The upper age limit for OTA is 25 years and that for others is 24 years.

4. Both unmarried male and female candidates can apply.

CDS exam stands for Combined Defense Service. It is also abbreviated as CDSE.

CDS 2 2018 Exam Age Limit;

20 to 24 Years as on 1st July 2019 i.e. born not earlier than 02 July 1995 and not later than 01 July 1999 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 Yrs
