How can I enroll for West Bengal State Bar Council? Can I enroll throughout the year or is there any specific time? Is there any application charges? Which all documents are required to be submitted?

Yes. You will have to pay application form charge as well enrollment fee charge to register for state bar council. In West Bengal state, Application Form charge is Rs. 700/-. Enrollment fees is Rs.3000/- for general category candidates and Rs.1500/- for SC/ST candidates. There is no specific time for registration. Enrollment committee meeting is held once or twice a month.

Steps to Register for State Bar Council
- Pay and obtain application form from respective office of state bar council.
- Fill the application form and submit it with all required documents.
- All the applications shall be scrutinized by office and submit it to enrollment committee of the bar council. Enrollment committee shall proceed to dispose of every application in accordance with the provisions of the act and rules. If any doubt in any application, it will be referred to state bar council for clarification.
- After approval of application form, Council will issue an enrollment number and identity card confirming the members enrollment into the bar.

Required Documents for Registration
- Law Degree Certificate
- Certificate of his/her moral character and fitness to be an advocate issued by at least two persons of respectability and position (not being in relations).
- A declaration by applicants his/her age, nationality, not in part time or full time service.
- A declaration in written by applicants that he will faithfully observe and abide all rules made by bar council of India.
- Fee payment receipt given from office of bar council of delhi.
- Other certificates, photographs, declaration and documents as per application form.
