->definitely you should have good subject knowledge of your whole course

->along with it you should have good charachter and attitude

->you should be punctual towards your work

->you should helpful and co operative towards your colligues

->you should not expect too much from your firm

->you should be consistent in your efficiency

->you should be very professional in looks and also in the dressing sense

->where ever you talk you should take lead from your co members

->you should show some skills in open other than your office work it creates some interest on you

for becoming software engineer first crack any entrance exam to take admission into a engineering college and choose branch either cse or it now for becoming software engineer you should have interest in coding in learning languages your thinking capability should be sound enough so that you may be able to analyse software or projects thats all.

He must be able to understand how software development process can fit into the business approach and goals of the organization.

He should be tactful & diplomatic and should be able to maintaining a cooperative relationship with developers – people skills.

Good Judgment skills are needed to assess high-risk areas of an application.

An ability to find problems as well as to answer the question ‘what’s missing’

Good oral, written and interpersonal skills are also required.Communication is very important feature of a good software engineer.

THE main thing which you have is your knowledge about your field.You have

to choose a perticular field like programming,networking,database,software

devoloping etc.

Your basics should be clear so that you can give the answer in your interview

and do work in the company.

Many companies have requirment for freshers i their companies.So there is so

much scope for you in IT sector.

There is so much requirment for a java and .net programmer.So you can

choose a perticular language in between java and .net.

The choice is Yours.

i want to tell you that if you want to be an software engineer then you have to fight any entrance exam for it like IIT, AIEEE, pet etc.
If you get good rank in this exam then you can take any kind of engineering college of your choice. now complete this b.tech degree and prepare for interview.
In interview there are many kind of competion like you have a degree of minimum 60% in your b.tech and 12th, you must have to good communication skills. your sense of humor must be great. you have good knowledge of your particular field.
