Re: When can an IAS officer become a district magistrate and collector?
IAS stands for the Indian Administrative Services. When a candidate clear all the three stages of Civil Services examination and is among top rankers of this exam, he is eligible for the training at Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Academy of Administration.
Once the training is over, most of the IAS officers start their career as Sub Divisional Magistrate in Sub Division of a district. After certain years of service as Sub Divisional magistrate ( usually 3-5 years), you will be promoted to the post of District Magistrate or so called Collector in Senior time scale. |
