i think that the civil services preliminary exam going to be replaced by an aptitude test

the notification is out and there is no change in pattern,its just like the last year

It was decided to replace it by the year 2010,but according to the latest news (from The careergraph ) the recommendations for replacing prelims with amptitude test is been kept hold for few years,till the recommendations are approved.

So,guys there is nothing to worry,just go for prelims notifications are released in employment news dated-26.12.2009 -01.01.2010.

the pattern will be general aptitude questions.....you can join a coaching class for getting a clear idea about the standard of the questions .......
it is a very good move by the authority by replacing the prelim exam by aptitude exam........

there's great chances of having an aptitude test instead of a prelim. exam from next year.

there will be questions from:

data interpretation

logical reasoning

quantitative ability,

it is almost clear that UPSC is going to replace the prelims. exam with an aptitude test.

but it not sure because there is no official news till now for confirmation of the replacement of prelims.so keep a watch on the news related to this.

from 2011 UPSC has introduced aptitude questions in preliminary test in the civil service exam .

from now this exam will be known as CSAT (civil services aptitude test ) exam.

talks are being going on about the change of prelims exam paper of civil services exam.the total prelims paper will be replaced by aptitude paper.the decision is yet not taken but from 2011 the paper pattern may be changed.

As said by Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions , Civil Services Aptitude Test will be common for all candidates from next year 2011 and this aptitude test is replaced by all the 23 optional subjects available today.
Means you will have following sections in upcoming IAS exam:-
-Aptitude section for assessing the reasoning ability of the candidates
-English language skills of Class X level
