Can I join Indian Army at the age of 30-31? I always had a passion for Indian Army and wanted to join it someday but life took me somewhere else and I landed as a Visual Effects Compositor. I am fit & fine and a bachelor. Shall I think all the doors to join the force are closed or it's too late for a fit person who wants to serve the force or there is still a way to join? Do the Indian Army require educated people to join their intelligence department or something?

No, you cannot join in Indian Army at the age of 30 or 31 years because you have crossed the age limit required to appear for the entrance examination to join in Indian Army. There are two entrance examinations conducted by UPSC for the candidates who wish to join in Indian Army, they are :-
(i) NDA
(ii) CDS

(i) Eligibility Criteria for NDA :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. Age Limit :- 16 1/2 to 19 years.

3. You must have completed 12th class or equivalent from any recognised board.

4. You must be an Unmarried Male candidate.

5. You must be physically and Mentally fit.

(ii) Eligibility Criteria for CDS :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. Age Limit :- 19 to 24 years.

3. You must have completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from any recognised University.

4. You must be physically and Mentally fit.

Since, you have crossed the age limit required to appear for the NDA and CDS examination, you are not eligible to appear for the NDA and CDS examination. So, you are not eligible to join in Indian Army.

It is good to see your interest in joining in Indian Army at the age of 30 years but it is very hard to say that you are not eligible for joining in the Indian Army at the age of 30 years as the procedure for joining in Indian Army is by writing the entrance exam for it.

Regarding the entrance exams which are conducted for joining in Indian Army you are not satisfying the age limit as you have exceeded the limit needed,which makes you ineligible for applying.

You can join Territorial Army only as your age is well above for most of the Indian Army posts. Territorial Army is for those people who want to join Army as a volunteer and anyone who is working in some other job can join Territorial Army. The selection is based on merit and you have to qualify some stages with good marks to get selected for this post.

The age limit for joining Territorial Army is 18 to 42 years. There is no age relaxation for this post.

The selection will based on the written examination and SSB Interview. Also, you must be medically fit according to territorial army standards.

Sorry to say that you can't join Indian Army as you have crossed the maximum age limit to appear in the entrance exam to join Indian Army.
UPSC conducts NDA and CDS entrance exam for the candidates who want to join Indian Army.
In CDS( Combined Defense Services) exam,the age limit for different academy are as mentioned below:-
Indian Military Academy-19 to 24 years.
Indian Naval Academy- 19 to 22 years.
Indian Air Force Academy-19 to 23 years.
Officer's Training Academy-19 to 25 years.
In NDA(National Defense Academy) exam,the age limit for the candidates are 16.5 to 19 years and threre is no age relaxation.

Truly speaking you don't have a chance to apply for the Indian Army with this Age limits. But there is a Solution for your problem that is for instance you are belonging to any reserved category then you can apply for Indian Army in that class (Category ).

Otherwise there is no chance to apply for the Indian Army. Or else if you have completed the graduation in B.E/B.Tech then you can write a examination called TGC and this notification is released in the month of May and November every year.

Or if you have a PG degree(M.A/M.Sc ) then you can apply for Indian Military Academy there the age should be in between 23 to 27 years .

See there are several ways to join in Indian Army .

--> You can join Indian Army through Entrance exams like NDA , CDS , etc.

--> You can join Army by applying different posts.

* Remember for each and every post there is certain eligilbility criteria . There is certian Qualification also .

~ At the age of 31 you can apply for some posts in Indian army

1) If you have completed B.tech then you can apply for the post of Technical officer in Indian army.
To apply for the post , your age shouldnot be morethan 32 years
You shouldhave secured morethan 60% in your B.tech
You shouldbe a citizen of India
You should have completed your B.tech from a Recognised college or University

Sorry you can join indian army as minimum and maximum age required is 19-25 years. Age limit is one the most important criteria,failing to which leads to disqualification of the candidate without prior notice.
Never mind.you have still jobs in private companies.

No you can't.You are very late as the maximum age of the candidate is 25 years.
Another requirement is that one must have a graduate degree to apply for the post of commission officer.
However you still have a chance to join Indian army in territorial army where the age limit is 40 years.
But for that you must have work experience of at least 2 years.

No you can't join Indian Army if you have age above 30 years. There are no jobs which has age criteria above 30 years. The maximum age which is available is 25 years if you want to apply for the CDS exam.

There is only a territorial army option which is for everyone and upper age is 42 years. You can apply for TA if you want.
