You will have to appear in the exam called SSC CGL exam(Staff Selection Commission ). Qualification required for this is ,you must have a graduation degree from a recognized university.

The Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate level or SSC CLG Exam is a national level test is conducted for the recruitment of various posts in Indian Government ministries, departments and organisations.

To become a commisioner in income tax, Students need to appear for the SSC CLG which is also referred to as the Income Tax exam as it is also conducted for the recruitment of income tax officers in the department of income tax under the Indian government.

The minimum academic qualification for the SSC CLG exam is a bachelor degree in any discipline.

The exam which you need to qualify to become Commissioner of Income Tax is SSC CGL.
The selection process for SSC CGL examination consists of 4 stages.
Tier- I
Tier- II
Tier-III
Tier- IV

If you are a graduate below the age of 30 years, the first step is to apply for the Combined Graduate Level Examination conducted by the staff selection commission to become and income tax inspector.
Staff Selection Commission is an authorised body responsible for conducting SSC CGL exam for recruitment of the Income Tax inspector because the department of income tax falls under the central government of India.

The minimum age limit of the candidate is 18 years and maximum is 27 years.
Age limit for eligibility for this income tax exam will be relaxed for 5 years for SC and ST candidates in 3 years for OBC candidates.

After completing your Graduation degree, you are eligible to become an Income Tax Commissioner. For that, you have to appear for the SSC CGL exam or UPSC exam and get a qualifying score to become an Income Tax Commissioner.

There are two main routes to become an Income Tax Officer in India, i.e. SSC CGL exam or UPSC exam. SSC CGL exam is the main recruitment exam for Grade C and B inspectors for the Department of Income Tax which comes under the central government.

Which exam do we need to qualify to become Commissioner of Income Tax?

To become an income tax inspector, aspirants must appear for the SSC CGL examination. Staff Selection Commission conducts the combined graduate level (CGL) examination for recruitment into various government departments. The appointment of income tax inspectors is also done via the SSC CGL examination.

To get in to income tax department , candidate must appear for SSC CGL exam . It conducts exam for recruitment in to various Government department.

The Central Government may appoint as many Director of Inspection , commissioner of Income tax , additional commissioner etc

Either one can appear for SSC CGL or UPSC exam.
Both are the routes for the post.
