Re: IFS means Indian Foreign Service or Indian Forest Service?
Actually both are termed as " IFS " since the acronyms for both are same. But you need to get a difference in both. Actually UPSC conducts both examinations Indian Forest Services and Indian Foreign services.
Difference between Indian Forest Services and Indian Foreign service Examination : 1.Through Foreign services you can become a " Embassy" for you country in different Nations but where as through forest services you will become a " Forest Officer in different regions" 2.Through Civil's Examination you will get the Indian Foreign services. But for forest services you have a different Notification for it by UPSC. 3.The age limits for Foreign and Forest services the age should be in between 21 to 30 years. 4.In the prospect of Job positions and Salaries both are different. |

Re: IFS means Indian Foreign Service or Indian Forest Service?
IFS stands for Indian Foreign Service whereas IFoS stands for Indian Forest Service.
Both of these services recruits gazetted officers under UPSC board's norms and both of these exams are conducted every single year by UPSC Board. To become IFS Officer, a candidate need to clear preliminary, mains exam and personality test of UPSC Indian Civil Service Examination conducted every single year and to apply for this examination, candidate should be graduate in any discipline from a recognized university or pursuing final year of bachelor's degree. Candidate need to score highest marks in Indian Civil Service Exam because only top 10-20 candidates scored in ICS exam are selected for the post of IFS that is why hard work is necessary. IFoS - Indian Forest Service also consist of prelims and mains examination whereas candidate qualifying in prelims test will be qualified for mains and will have to qualify various conventional type papers of mains exam. If candidate qualify in mains then he/she is called for interview/ personality test and after qualifying in this test the merit list is prepared based on marks secured in mains exam and personality test and candidates are selected. To apply for Indian Forest Service exam, candidate should be graduate in any one of the subjects from a recognized university : Botany/ Chemistry/ Zoology/ Physics/ Statistics/ Mathematics/ Geology or should be graduate in Agriculture or in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science from a reputed university OR Should possess a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized university. Age of the candidate should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years for both of these exams and upper age is relaxable as per government guidelines. If you seriously want to prepare for both of these exams or either of these exams then you need to follow guidelines of experts and professionals who are teaching such willing and enthusiastic candidates for decades so find a better coaching nearby your area and show them your interest and strengths then join the coaching and start working harder to achieve your goal. |
