The choice is your, as you are the who has to study, so interest is very important.
If you will not find the subject interesting , then it will become burdensome.

Statistics and maths both are practical subjects and are scoring too.
But in some college maths is taught as a theoretical subject and students end up regretting taking maths as they thought it more of a practical subject.
Where as statistics is combination of both practical and theory and still student have a chance of increasing their score through statistics.
Whether you are interested in maths or statistics is the 1st thing to be kept in mind and secondly whether the college is also taking subject in its theoretical aspect or practical one.
These two pints have to be kept in mind before choosing any subject.

If you are focusing in placements then BSc in statistics is best because from doing Bsc in statistics there are a lot of options related to jobs.
After doing BSc you can do MSc in statistics and after that you are eligible for Indian Statistical Service exam which is conducted by UPSC.

You can select any one course it completely depends on you and your interest. Both the streams are very good and have numerous job opportunities. If you like subjects like probability and distribution in that case you can choose statistics on the other hand if you like pure mathematics more then you can take up Mathematics.
