Recognition of IGNOU B.Sc degree by the IITs

Hello friends,
is the BSc degree awarded by IGNOU recognized by the IIT's?
If one completes his bachelor in science from IGNOU, can he appear for the JAM entrance test conducted by the IIT's for admission to the MSc course.
I know that IGNOU is a UGC recognized central university and it's degrees are recognized by all the universites; however, it's bachelor degree may not be recognized by the IIT's for admission to their post graduate (MSc) courses.
Have you come across any person who has completed his graduation from IGNOU, cracked JAM, and secured admission into an IIT
Such an example would be really inspiring and encouraging.
Looking forward to your replies. Thanks.

Hello Friend !!

The B.Sc Degree in Science is recognized by the IIT's.

You can apply for the JAM examination conducted by IIT to get admission into the Masters Courses offered by IIT's in science streams.

JAM stands for Joint Admission test for Masters.

But you should have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate in your Bachelors degree.

And there is a relaxation of 5% for backward castes like SC, ST.

The date of JAM 2014 Test is 9th February, 2014 (Sunday).

However the date of applying for JAM 2014 is already closed on 23 October, 2013 (Wednesday), so you can apply for the next year if you haven't applied to JAM 2014.

You have to visit //gate.iitk.ac.in/jam to apply for the JAM entrance examination.

Participating Institutes in JAM :

IIT Bombay

IIT Delhi

IIT Guwahati

IIT Hyderabad

IIT Kanpur

IIT Kharagpur

IIT Madras

IIT Roorkee

IIT Bhubaneswar

IIT Gandhinagar

IIT Hyderabad

IIT Indore

IISc (Indian Institute of Science)

Good Luck !!
