HI FRIEND ## UPSC conducts IPS(Indian Police Services) examination once every year ## The minimum educational qualification required to apply for IPS EXAM is graduation in any discipline from recognised institution/university & NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED ## Age limit to apply for IPS EXAMINATION is ~>21-30 years for GENERAL category candidates ~>21-33 years for OBC candidates ~>21-35 years for SC/ST candidates ## The physical standards required to apply for IPS EXAM are ~>165 cm height for men and 150 cm height for women & 5 cm height relaxation for SC/ST candidates ~>85 cm chest on expansion for men & there is no such requirement for women ~>Eyesight should be 6/6 or 6/9 in one eye, 6/12 in other eye for distant vision & 0.6 in one eye, 0.8 in other eye for near vision ## The number of attempts allowed for IPS EXAM are ~>4 times for General ~>7 times for OBC ~>no limit for SC/ST category candidates ## For further details please visit www.upsc.gov.in ** ALL THE BEST ** |

Re: What is the eligibility for IPS entrance exam? Hello, IPS stands for Indian Police Service.To become an IPS officer,you should appear for civil service exam. Civil Service exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) Academic Qualification : You must be a graduate in any of the streams from a recognized university. Appearing in the final year of bachelor degree program are also eligible for IPS exam. Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India. Selection Process: 1)Preliminary exam (civil service aptitude test) 2)Main examination 3)Interview Age limit: min max General- 21yrs. 30 yrs. obc - 21 yrs 33 yrs. sc/st - 21 yrs. 35 yrs. Number of attempts : General candidates: four attempts. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction. Other Backward Classes: seven attempts. Physical Fitness: Height - Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) - 160 cm Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest - Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Eye sight - 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment shd not be more than 30 decibels. Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking. Maximum age 30 for general category, 33 for obc and 35 for sc/st, ex-servicemen 35 years . Number of Attempts:- 4 attempts for open, 7 for obc and no limit for sc/st. The correction is by lenses only. Exam Pattern :- There are two stages-- Preliminary Examination- It is of objective type, which is a qualifying exam. Main Examination- It consists of written exam and interview. The Preliminary exam is held in may/june and the main exam in october/november. |

Re: What is the eligibility for IPS entrance exam? A graduate degree is the eligibility criterion for IPS post. Taking the UPSC Civil services exam is the first step for joining this post. Candidates should be at least 21 years of age so as to attend this exam. Higher age limit is 30 years. Candidates who get through preliminary and main exam for this post, a physical test and P.I are the final step. |
