I was born on 01.08.1982.if i m eligible for appearing in ias 2012?some senior members reply that the age must attain 30yrs as on 01 august of the appearing year and some senior members reply i.e 01 july of the apearing year.kindly clearify.

Age limitation criteria for the IAS exam:-

--> 21-30 years for the general category.

--> 21-33 years for the OBC.

--> 21-35 years for the SC/ST.

The minimum educational qualification required is to be a graduate in any field.

AGE limit criteria for IAS are as following:-
Candidate age must be in between 21-30 years further relaxation is provided for SC/ST for 5 years and OBC for 3 years on maximum age limit.

Upsc conducts civil service examination every year and selects officers like IAS,IFS,IPS etc. through this examination. Age limits for IAS officer'sexam:
  • 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011 for General category
  • 21 - 33 for OBCs and
  • 21- 35 for SCs/STs
(Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice given in Notification of 2011).

Your age should be between 21 to 30 years.
So according to me you are not eligible to appear for IAS exam as your age has exceeded.

But in case if you belong to reservation category then you have chance to appear for the IAS exam.You may view that i am listing it below:

The minimum age to become Indian Administrative officer is 21 and maximum age is 30 year. If you born in 1981 then you complete the age of 30 years and if your month is fall after 1st august then you are eligible for IAS examination. For more details please see the website http://www.upsc.in

the age limit for an general candidate is 30 years,with relaxation of 5 years for candidates of sc/st category,
as you are born in in 1989 and your age will be below 30 years of age you can write the exam this year,the notification will come in the month of february and the exam is in month of june

To become Indian Administrative Officer You need crack CSAT exam i.e Civil Services Exam.

Eligibility Criteria For writing is any Graduate with any Discipline and Age must be in between 21 to 30 years as on 01 August 2011

You are 1981 born guy , and you will going to complete 30 years Of age in this July. if your Month would have fall after the August then you could write, But now you can't write the Exam.Because your Age will Exceed the Criteria Limit.

There is a minimum age requirement of 21 years and a maximum of 30 years. Since you were born in July 1981 you can appear for this year exam. The forms will be available from 19th February. You can purchase it from the main post office near you. The prelims are scheduled for June.

generally the age limit for attending IAS EXAM is from 21 to 30. but if you belong to sc/st 5 years relaxation in upper age is given and bc/others 3 years relaxation is given.
