Re: Is B.Tech a necessary qualification for GATE?

GATE refers to Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and same examination is held once every year by different IITs following a particular pattern for offering admission in M.tech ( Master of Technology ) degree course from IITs ( Indian Institute of Technology ).

As far as you are concerned about the eligibility of students having completed their B.Sc ( Bachelor of Science ) and M.Sc ( Master of Science ) degree course for appearing in GATE then for your information they are eligible if their Master's degree is in any Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent from a recognized university.

For more details about GATE you can refer to the link http://www.gate.iitr.ernet.in.

Re: Is B.Tech a necessary qualification for GATE?

No, the candidates who have passed B.Sc.-M.Sc. Agriculture course are not eligible to apply for GATE examination and they are not eligible to get admission in IIT.

Only candidates who have passed B.Tech/ M.Tech in Engineering/ Technology or M.Sc. in Science/Mathematics / Statistics/Computer Applications from a recognised university are eligible to apply for GATE examination and by getting good rank in GATE examination, they can get admission in IIT.
