Is B.Tech a necessary qualification for GATE?
Is B.tech is necessary eligibility criteria for Gate? Can a simple B.sc-M.sc or M.sc agriculture apply for gate and get admitted to prestigious IIT?

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and entrance examination is conducted for admission in IIT for M.Tech courses.
The required educational qualification to appear for examination is candidate must posses either of degree B.Tech, B.E, M.Sc, M.A,MCA, B.Arch etc. So, if you have any of the above qualification then you are eligible to appear for examination. There is no age limit to appear for examination. |

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. This is entrance examination for admission in Master of Technology conducted by IIT or IISC every year. The eligibility criteria for this exam is bachelor's degree in technology or engineering from a recognized university.
Candidates who have done master's degree in science or computer applications can also apply for GATE examination. If you have done Master's degree in science then you can apply for this exam. You need to obtain good rank to get admission in Indian Institute of Technology for Master of Technology. |

No, the candidates who have passed B.Sc.-M.Sc. Agriculture course are not eligible to apply for GATE examination and they are not eligible to get admission in IIT.
Only candidates who have passed B.Tech/ M.Tech in Engineering/ Technology or M.Sc. in Science/Mathematics / Statistics/Computer Applications from a recognised university are eligible to apply for GATE examination and by getting good rank in GATE examination, they can get admission in IIT. |

The full form of GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
Academic qualification: Bachelor's degree in technology or engineering from a recognized university or Master's degree in science. Master of science candidates can apply for GATE examination to pursue Master of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology. |

GATE refers to Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and same examination is held once every year by different IITs following a particular pattern for offering admission in M.tech ( Master of Technology ) degree course from IITs ( Indian Institute of Technology ).
As far as you are concerned about the eligibility of students having completed their B.Sc ( Bachelor of Science ) and M.Sc ( Master of Science ) degree course for appearing in GATE then for your information they are eligible if their Master's degree is in any Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent from a recognized university.
