Re: Detailed information about entrance exams to study PhD in Organic Chemistry in India?
Admission in Ph.D is mostly based on your performance in the entrance exam and interview. You have to apply on a prescribed format of application when the notification is released by the university. Normally, if you have NET/SLET/JRF/GATE qualification then you have to send documents related to it along with application form to get entrance exam exemption. If you don't have any of these scores then you just have to appear for entrance exam which is mostly conducted by the university. Top universities like IITs don't conduct any entrance exam and they give admission based on the score in NET/GATE/JRF plus interview. You have to perform well in the interview to make yourself eligible for admission.
The minimum qualification required for Ph.D admission is a Master's degree with at least 55% marks in the given discipline. There is relaxation of 5% marks for reserved category candidates. You can apply for exams like NET/SLET/JRF/GATE to become eligible for Ph.D admission without appearing for any other entrance exam. Most of the top Universities prefer candidates with these scores for Ph.D admission, therefore, you should try to clear any one of these exams if you want admission in a reputed University. |
