Yes, The student must have completed a master's degree in Commerce or an MPhil with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognised university. Many universities in India also require applicants to qualify the UGC-NET exam for admissions into a PhD in specialisation of Commerce.

Being a Commerce graduate, you are eligible to pursue a Ph.D. program but before that, you will be required to pursue Postgraduation i.e; a Master's degree in the discipline you want to do your Ph.D. as the minimum education required for pursuing a Ph.D. degree course is a Master's degree in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or 50% marks in aggregate in case of reserved category candidates) from a recognized university.

Further, to pursue a Ph.D. from a good university, you must qualify UGC NET or Ph.D. entrance of the concerned university.

For details regarding UGC NET, you can refer to the link www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
