I am 30 years old. Am I eligible for Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) Junior Research Fellow scholarship?

The maximum age limit for CSIR Junior Research Fellow scholarship is 28 years which is relaxed up to 5 years to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and female applicants whereas 3 years in the case of OBC category.

The educational qualification required is a candidate with a bachelor's degree whether science, engineering, or any other discipline will be eligible for fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for a PhD/Integrated PhD course within the validity period of two years. Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized University are eligible for CSIR NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Your age should be below 30 years. Age relaxation is provided to reserved category.

The upper age limit for applying for the award of Junior research fellowship shall be 28 years which is relaxed up to five years for candidates belonging to scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribes, women, physically handicapped and 3 years for other backward classes.

The candidate must be an Indian citizen. If any candidate is found otherwise the application form of that particular candidate will be rejected.

Age criteria required for CSIR Junior Research Fellow Scholarship:

The basic age criteria required to apply for CSIR Junior Research Fellow scholarship is given below,

>> The maximum age should not exceed 28 years for General category candidates.

>> There is an age relaxation for SC or ST or OBC category Candidates.
@ For OBC candidates- 3 years
@ For SC or ST or Physically Handicapped candidates- 5 years

>> Upper age is 31 years for OBC

>> Upper age is 33 years for SC or ST or PWD candidiates

Hence if you belong to General or OC category then you are not eligible. On the other case if you belong to other than General category then I can say that you are certainly eligible.
