Is it beneficial to do M.Tech(Software Engineering) for BS Mechanical graduate of USA?


Hi All,
Is it a good decision to pursue M.Tech in Software Engineering after completing a BS in Mechanical Engineering from USA? Is it a drastic shift? Please advice me.
