Yes. You can do your graduation degree from distance learning for post upgradation in the Indian railway. Because, Distance education is accepted in the Indian railway.

Yes, you can pursue any degree course for post promotion in Railways or any other department.
There is no any restriction in pursuing any degree course.
But one important thing is that you have to pursue from distance mode. The reason behind this is that how is this possible to pursue from regular mode while doing job in any sector.

Railway Board circular for recognition of qualification through distance education mode qualification from UGC approved universities/courses will be accepted. Ministry of Railways has issued a circular regarding recognizing the qualifications obtained through distance education mode. These instructions have been effected from the date of issue of notification that is 10th June 2015.
