Hi Sir, I have done my BTech course around 2 years ago and now I am working. I want to do MTech through distance education. So, I have to appear in GATE for distance MTech admission as well?

Any distance mode engineering degree is not approved by AICTE and you should go for a regular degree only for M.Tech like course. The GATE score is not compulsory for M.Tech admission but it will help you get admission at the top a college with a stipend.

Most of the engineering colleges prefer GATE qualifiers for MTech admission and the rest of the seats left are for none GATE students. Hence, most of the top college's seats will be taken away by those who have a GATE scorecard.
