I have done my M.Sc(Hons) Mathematics. I am having overall CGPA around 8/10. I want to do M.TECH from good IITs in Computer Science. Is this possible?? Please tell me how to proceed(GATE)? Is it true that only B.Tech students having CS are eligible or are selected for MTech.

What other things are counted for admission?

Eligibility for Gate - Computer Science:-

An applicant studying in the 3rd or higher years of any UG degree is eligible to appear for GATE 2022 examination. Also, Candidates who have completed any degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts are eligible to apply.

Yes, MTech in Computer Science can be done after M.Sc in Mathematics.

If you have valid GATE CSE score than only you can pursue MTech CSE.

Those who have BTech degree or having any other post graduate degree are eligible for GATE CSE exam.

It would be easier to get admission if you have valid GATE score of more than 40 marks.

Candidate can get admission through counseling of GATE examination only.

Candidate cannot get direct admission through college level counseling.

The eligibility criteria to pursue MTech in Computer Science is that you should have completed graduation with a minimum of 55%. Yes, one can pursue MTech after successful completion of a BSc degree if the course is of 4-year long duration. But if one has completed BSc with a 3-year undergraduate degree then students need to complete their MSc. Since you have completed MSc, you are eligible.
