If UGC has prescribed percentage of marks for Ph.D why should there be any requirement of percentage of marks for post graduation? UGC should be approached for reconsideration and judicious decision on this issue. If this effort fails why not lodge a Public Interest Litigation on this issue?

Yes, you are eligible to get admission in Ph.d course after post graduation.

To get admission in Ph.d course the minimum required percentage in post graduation course to get appear for admission entrance examination is 55% where as 50% for M.Phil.

So, if you have 55% in PG you are eligible to appear for entrance examination conducted to get admission in Ph.d course.

Eligibility criteria for Ph.D course as per UGC norms:-

1)Those candidates who have completed post graduation degree from a recognized university with above 55% marks are eligible for Ph.D course.

2)There is no age criteria for Ph.D course.

Academic qualification required to apply for Ph.D course is Master's degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks for General category and 50% marks for the SC/ST candidates.

Admission to Ph.D course is carried out through entrance exams in some universities and in some other universities without the entrance exam.
