Social Studies is an important subject that encompasses three main subjects which are interrelated to each other. The history part is important because it familiarizes students about the past of their country and how civilization came into being. Geography is necessary to understand the political boundaries, physical terrain, climate and other aspects which affected the growth of different regions historically. The Civics part makes students aware of their fundamental rights, the different kinds of Government, safety measures on roads, which is again hard to understand without a clear knowledge of the historical background. Some of the topics taught in this subject are Opium War, Revolt of 1857, Bhakti and Sufi movement, map pointing of physical landmarks of the country, secularism, election, its procedure and malpractices, problems of environmental pollution, democracy, United Nations, rise and fall of Napoleon, India as a multicultural country, Russian Revolution of 1905, safety measures on the road. The part A of the paper holds short descriptive questions and Map pointing. Part B of the paper has objective questions, some MCQs, some Fill in the Blanks and some match the columns.
