The Biju Patnaik University of Technology ( BPUT ) with its head-quarters in Rourkela came into being in November 2002 through an act of the Government. The subject code for the sixth semester computer network in Computer Science Engineering is BCSE-3306. The paper got eight questions where question number 1 is compulsory and the students have to answer any five questions from the rest. However choices are provided in few questions. It covers the topics on mode of transmission, difference between bit rate and baud rate, Stop and Wait ARQ method, bit stuffing.etc Question number 2 contains three questions which cover on HDLC protocol, VPI and VCI in ATM, Three way handshakes in TCP connection. It also contains short notes on Flow control and Network Security. Other topics include TDM, FDM, Go Back-N-ARQ, different types of IP protocols, Guided media and its examples, etc. It covers almost all the important chapters of the syllabus of the computer network. It’s not at all a scoring subject as it is based on the theoretical knowledge about computer networks. However, the students answers should be specific and to the point in order to score good marks in the subject.
