CBSE schools have made it mandatory to study the foundations of information technology under the dictum of the central board of education. It zeros in on the theoretical and practical aspects of information technology which carries huge potential of growth and success in this decade. The council has taken a good decision by changing this obsession of young people with computers into something which can be put to constructive use. The syllabus encompasses the major areas like the principles and theories and their practical usage. Since it is just the beginning, the emphasis is on the fundamentals of IT. It includes some parts of computer science coupled with computational methods that are integral to information science. Knowledge about telecommunication is also important which is covered within this. The paper is mostly objective type which provides more chance to score well. Some questions are related to find errors in a given code snippet. Then there are questions related on writing codes to give particular outputs. Marks depend on level of the question asked.
