This paper offers plenty of choices for the candidates as there are ten questions out of which the students have to answer any five. All questions carry 16 marks. The questions are all descriptive, some of the important questions are: discuss the theme of “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”, discuss ‘Adonais’ as a pastoral elegy, elaborate on the prose style of Lamb, write a note on the use of myths in Frankenstein, evaluate Shelley as a romantic poet, write an essay on the relationship between man and nature as discussed by Wordsworth in his Preface to Lyrical Ballad, discuss the importance of social class in Pride and Prejudice and the way in which it affects the relationship of Elizabeth and Darcy, write an essay on the general characteristics of the Romantic Age discussing some of the salient features of the age as reflected in its art and literature, write a critical appreciation of ‘Ode on Grecian Urn’ etc. For more details about this you can download previous year’s question papers from below.
