To become an I.A.S Officer, you have to appear and qualify in Civil Service examination.

It is conducted by UPSC. The eligibility is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

So, there is no specific stream or discipline to appear for the examination or to qualify in the examination. For more information about the examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in.

To become IAS officer you have to be graduate in any discipline. To become an IAS officer you have to apply for the Civil Service Examination.

This examination is conducted by the UPSC every year. The eligibilty required for the Civil Service examination is given below:-

Education qualification:--
For the Civil Service Examination a candidate should be graduate in any discipline from the recognised University. Those appeared in the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the Civil Service examination.

Age limit:-
Candidate age should be between 21 to 30 years.
5 years relaxation in age will be given to SC/ ST candidates.
3 years relaxation in age will be given to OBC candidates.
Civil Service Examination is basically conducted in two stages that is Pre and then Mains. Those who get cleared the preliminary examination will be called for the Mains examination. Candidates successfully qualified in the Mains will be called for the interviews.
Preliminary examination is basically a objective type paper and mains is subjective.

For more information you can visit the official website - www.upsc.gov.in

If you want to be an IAS officer then the best course of study in subjects like history, public administration, political science, geography, psychology, sociology, economics etc. is the main course of general study papers
(which have the maximum weightage across the Prelims and the Mains stages of the CSE).
