••• If you really want to join Merchant Navy, then I would like to suggest you to complete your 12th from CBSE Board and then go for IMU entrance exam.

••• But if you want to join Merchant Navy just after 10th then you can go as a crew member on board.
And for that you have to do GP rating course.

No, It is not that much difficult to join merchant navy if you have good communication skill and good at academic. You basics must be clear that's the only thing required.

You can join the Merchant Navy after class 10 by doing a GP(General Purpose) Rating course. It is a 6 Months long course pre-sea training course. The advantage is that you would get Indian CDC in 6 months and you could sail across the globe.

Eligibility criteria to join merchant navy are :- finishing class 12th with physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Candidate must be unmarried.
Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and main written exam.
After clearing the test there is an interview and medical test.
You also need to complete a ship training course prior to the employment. The course is generally short term where the candidates are taught basic security.
