Being a 12th standard student you definitely eligible to apply for Chartered Accountant course.

Chartered Accountant is a professional course. The chartered Accountant course may divided into three stages;

- Foundation course
- Intermediate
- Final CA course

- Those who completed their 12th standard or its equivalent qualification from a recognized board are eligible to apply for Foundation. Those who completed Foundation or those who completed their Graduation with 60% of marks are directly eligible to pursue for Intermediate course.

The tentative dates for CPT examination has not yet been released and so it is not possible for me to provide you the exact information on it. However, your son will have to appear for CPT examination after completion of his 12th standard from a recognized board and after clearing the examination he will be very much eligible for admission in the course.

To take admission in Chartered Accountancy after the completion of class 12th, candidates need to appear and qualify in the CPT (Common Proficiency Test) examination. The Common Proficiency Test is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in every six months gap.
The eligibility criteria to appear in the CPT examination is that candidates must have completed their class 12th or equivalent from a recognised Board in Commerce discipline.
CPT examinations are conducted twice in a year in the month of June and December.
CPT examination of June month of this year is going to conduct on 19-06-2016.

After completion of senior secondary examinations, you can register for CA foundation course. CA foundation exams will conduct twice in a year May/November. If you want to register for CA foundation May attempt then you have to register before 31st December and if you want to register for CA foundation November attempt then you have to register before 30th June.

The entire Foundation syllabus is divided into four subjects -

• Principles and Practices of Accounting
• Business Law and Business Correspondence and Reporting
• Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and Statistics
• Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge

The above two are subjective while the latter two are objective. Negative marking will continue to remain in the objective papers.
