Graduates in any subject can try for IAS. You can select B.Sc/B.Tech according to your wish. This will be quite useful while selecting optional subject for mains. Here you can select a subject based on graduation level studies. Engineering degree is suitable to find another job, if you fail with IAS in any case.

Dear Sonu,

Its nice to see that you want to become an IAS or an IPS officer in your life and are on your path right from the beginning of your career from where you can shape your future in whichever way you want.

To become an IAS or an IPS officer , you need to crack the Civil Services Examination.

This is the most prestigious examination conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission.

At the same time it is also amongst the top toughest examinations as more than 10 lac candidates appear in this examination every year out of which just 300 candidates are selected.

So ample and full dedication towards study is required if you want to be success full in this examination.

The Qualifications Required For Civil Services Examination are :

* You must hold a Bachelor`s Degree in any stream from any recognized college/university.

* If you are in final year of graduation , then also you can appear in the Civil Services Exam.

* The Age Limit for this exam is 21-30 years.

* Upper age is relaxable for :

a) OBC Candidates : 3 years

b) SC/ST candidates : 5 years

c) EX-servicemen : 5 years

* you must be an Indian Citizen in order to appear in the exam.

As you want to know that after passing 12th which one you should choose in between Engineering and B.Sc , then i would suggest you to go for Engineering as in engineering you will get a huge amount of extra knowledge as compared to Simple B.Sc.

However , its totally your decision that in whichever way you want to go after passing 12th for the preparation of Civil Services.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

Hello friend

You must take a good degree courses after 12th like
Commerce courses
Engineering
Medical courses etc

You can do any degree from a recognised Univeristy by the central government of India
The age limit for IAS, IPS is 21 - 30 years

You need to have general knowledge, know about current affairs etc so to pass the preliminary exam

There are age relaxations given for SC, ST, OBC, PD's
the relaxations are

SC, ST - 5 years
OBC - 3 years
PD's - 10 years

The number of times writing the exam is also depended on caste system only
The number of times writing the exam is

SC, ST - no restriction
OBC - 7 times
OC - 4 times

Since you have completed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Maths, the good options are Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Science course. If you want to appear for Civil Services Examination then it does not matter whether you have completed B.Sc or B.Tech.

Because for Civil Services Examination, both the degrees are accepted. None of the two will hold any advantage over the other when applying for the Civil Services Examination.

But this does not mean that you should pick any of the two courses without any thought. You should keep the second option open, in case you fail to make cut for the Civil Services Examination.

Now in my opinion, Bachelor of Technology is better course and certainly you should go for it. This course has better job opportunities in comparison to the Bachelor of Science course.

After completing the graduation, you should have no problem applying for the Civil Services Examination.

Eligibility

1. Nationality: It has to be Indian to apply for IAS, IPS.

2. Education: Need to have completed graduation.

3. Marks: No criteria.

4. The age limit is 21 years on the lower side.

5. Candidates above 30 years are not eligible.

6. Although OBC is eligible is apply upto 33 years.

7. While SC/ST can apply up to 35 years.

8. General candidate has maximum of 4 attempts to clear exam.

9. OBC can appear for Civil Services Exam 7 times.

10. There is no limit for SC/ST.

Selection Procedure

1. Preliminary Exam

2. Main Exam

3. Interview

IAS is one of the prestigious exam in India. you have to work hard to clear this examination.
There are three steps actually
1. prelims
2. mains
3. Interview

1. prelims
in prelims you have to give two papers
first is CSAT which require aptitude and reasoning so try to focus on these areas, to improve them you can take help of R. S. Agarwala

second is GS which require knowledge of polity, geography, history along with current affair. so do read these things along with news paper.

2. Mains

Total 7 papers+ 2 papers(qualifying)
There are four papers of general science so you have to read about current affairs and all that
There are two papers for optional subject. you have to choose one optional and studied it thoroughly.
you must have the ability to write essay so prepare for it.
Along with this you have to give two papers english + hindi they are of qualifying nature having minimum cut offs and their marks are not going to count in final score.

3. Interview

if you clear both above steps, you have to give interview. for interview you have to prepare the fields which you have choosen in mains and all that.

Best of luck...
