MCA is generally a three year course. If you have done BCA or some other similar course you can get admissions directly in 2nd year of MCA. This is known as lateral entry. It all depends upon the norms of the university through which you want to pursue MCA.

Differnce between Lateral Entry & MCA course :

A normal MCA course consists of 3 years, whereas A Lateral entry course consists of two years,

If you join MCA after then BSc you must do 3 year MCA course.

But if you join MCA after BCA then you con join lateral system and completing this in 2 years.

Lateral entry is very much different from MCA course in many ways;

> MCA is a PG course which is done after the completion of graduation course and is a 3 years course, whereas Lateral Entry is a scheme is one where you can get admission directly in 2nd year of MCA.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
