Dear pal,
the eligible candidate can appear in the selection process. The selection process for IAS involves
written exam and
personnel interview.
The written exam includes aptitude exam and main exam . the aptitude exam has two paper one is optional and other is general studies.
Paper 1
The candidate can choose optional paper. The maximum mark for the paper is 300.
Paper 2.
Then exam is on general studies. The maximum marks for the exam is 150. The duration of the exam is 2 hours
the aptitude exam is conducted in the month of may
main exam
the candidate need to appear in nine optional paper . The optional paper are civil,
botany,
zoology,
agriculture ,
chemistry,
electronics,
electrical etc
The paper will be available only in two language medium . They are
English and
Hindi .
One can not appear in any other language .

Andhra pradesh Telegu or Urdu
Assam-Meghalaya Assamese, Bengali Khasi or Garo
Bihar Hindi
Gujarat Gujarati
Haryana Hindi or Urdu
Himachal Pradesh Hindi
Jammu & Kashmir Urdu,Kashmiri or Dogri
Karnataka Kannada
Kerala Malayalam
Madhya Pradesh Hindi
Maharashtra Marathi
Manipur-Tripura Manipuri, Bengali or Hindi
Nagaland Nagamese in Roman Script
Orissa Oriya
Punjab Punjabi (in Gurumukhi script) or Hindi
Rajasthan Hindi
Sikkim Nepali
Tamil Nadu Tamil
Uttar Pradesh Hindi
West Bengal Bengali or Hindi
Arunachal Pradesh Assamese,Hindi, Malayalam,
Goa, Mizoram and Union Marathi,Mizo, Tamil ,Urdu

If you wish to take exam in optional subjects ,yes urdu is available.

Can you please clearly explaine me how many optional subjects are there in UPSC main exam and also can I answer all these subjects in my language that is Urdu..
