Im doing diploma in electronics and communication engineering in govt. polytechnic .I WOULD LIKE TO DO BTECH by taking lateral entry test.But I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT.,.,IF I WOULD LIKE TO DO BTECH IN IIT,NIT,IIST,BIT,.,.,WHAT I HAVE TO DO?.,.,.,.,PLEASE REPLY,.,..,..,.

you join AIEEE exam after your selection you can join the goverment college otherwise you can join AIET Exam of any college as IIMT etc. after you join B.tech on goverment fees. you can also join b.tech by private college or college seet here you pay fees on college demand.

If you want to pursue B.Tech. after your diploma then you have to clear the entrance exam of LEET. After getting good rank in this, you can go for your B.Tech degree. On the behalf of this you can get admission in better college or institution.

Eligibility criteria for LEET:

1. Candidate must have diploma without any backlog.

2. It should be from recognized Institution.

Sir i am presently in 6th semester of diploma in Mechanical Engineering under Punjab State Board Of Technical Education , sir now i wanted to change my branch for b tech. sir i want to do my b tech. in civil branch. So i want to ask you that can i change my branch in b.tech.

sir what will be the procedure for getting addmission through lateral entry in civil branch in any college under Punjab. sir can i change my branch or not??????

After passing the diploma in Electronics and Communications you will become eligible for the admission in B.Tech. The best way for diploma holders to get admission is through the lateral entry scheme.

The Lateral Entry Scheme offers diploma holders direct admission into the second year of Bachelor of Technology. This is the best way for diploma holders to get admission for the B.Tech.

However it does have some drawbacks. The drawback for you is that National Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Technology do not offer lateral entry admission. Therefore you will not be able to apply in these reputed institutes.

As far other colleges are concerned, majority of them reserve some seats for the diploma holders. Generally around 10 to 15 percent of total seats are reserved by the colleges for lateral entry admission.

To get admission you will have to appear for the entrance exam. The name of the entrance exam is Lateral Entry Engineering Test. This test is conducted in various states and after completing diploma you becomes eligible for LEET if scored 60 percent or more marks in the diploma course.

There are other exams as well. Some private colleges like to conduct their own entrance exam for diploma holders. They are asked to give a written test and based on which admission is given.

There are some colleges which offer admission on merit. You will get direct admission based on the performance in diploma, without having to appear for any entrance exam.

Just a quick last point, I will recommend you to pursue B.Tech in Electronics and Communications. Do not change your stream in B.Tech for two reasons. Firstly you will find it difficult to cope with other stream and secondly, ECE is one of the top branches of Engineering.
