According to an IELTS institute, your overall score for IELTS is important. If you have made 15 correct answers for the academic reading test, your band score for the test will be 5. If you have made 15 correct answers for the general training reading test, the band score will be 4.

In reading test , you will answer 40 questions .
A variety questions are used e.g MCQs/ tick the correct ans/true false/ sentence completion etc
So the answers are either correct or incorrect.
One mark for each correct ans

Band score 5 = 15 out of raw score of 40
Band score 6= 23 out of 40
Band score 7=30 out of 40
Band score 8 =35 out of 40.

Mostly universities offer admission with 6 or above band score.
