Uttarakhand Open University is located in the city of Haldwani in the Indian State of Uttarakhand and it is the only Open University in the state established recently in the year 2005. It is a public university shortly called as UOU approved by the Distance Education Council, University Grants Commission and the Association of Indian Universities. The university was established by an Act of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and it is presently offering education under different disciplines through different schools functioning under its control.
