Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic University, Katni, is also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV), an autonomous institution for Vedic education. This university came into existence due the Act No. 37 of 1995 of Madhya Pradesh Government and has christened after great spiritual leader Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who was also the very first chancellor of this university. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic University is one of a kind establishment which is at present the only organization in country to offer mainstream as well as modern education in terms of Vedic sciences and its technologies.

Apart from being an UGC recognized university, it is also an esteemed member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as well. This renowned Vedic governance is located in the village of Karoundi of the Katni district in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It aims at disseminating the prospects of the Vedic knowledge along with the modern running education. It is also known for being teaching cum affiliating body whose area of jurisdiction is spread over the entire state of Madhya Pradesh. There are over 100 educational centers spread all across state including cities, towns and villages to promote higher education in the rural and semi-rural areas thereby playing a pivotal role in up-liftment of the state.

Various programs offered in this university are Graduate (Shastri) programs, Post Graduate (Acharya) programs, Diploma (Praman Patra) Programs along with Doctoral programs in Yog, Maharishi Ved Vigyan, Jyotish, Sthapatya Ved-Vastu Vidya, and Gandharva Ved-Indian Classical Music amongst many others. Apart from Vedic courses MMYVV as offers full time or correspondence courses in modern education like BBA, BCA, B.Ed and many more which are approved by the Directorate of Technical Education Madhya Pradesh. Its follows the prime objective of demonstration of perfection in education, a path that was lead down by the Maharishi`s education system which is based on the Vedic principles, Consciousness and Atma.
