Floriculture or the science of growing flowers in the garden in a controlled way is a very lucrative as well as relaxing profession. A florist must have knowledge about the flowers as well as the various problems related with the flowers. Flower is a symbol of beauty, peace, love and everything good. Hence they should be cultivated with utmost care. Hence, an MSc degree is offered in floriculture in selected institutes of our country.

Eligibility

The eligibility criterion required for MSc in floriculture is very nominal. The candidate must pass his or her graduation from any recognized university of the country. A Graduate in Agriculture or floriculture is eligible for this course. There is no age bar.

Course Outlook

A 2 year post graduate course on Msc floriculture is offered with parallel options in horticulture and land scaping. This course deals with growing, yielding and maintenance of flower cultivation. There are also opportunities for scholarships to the meritorious candidates with weaker socio- economic background.

Job Prospect

There are lots of job prospect as India is a agricultural country. There are lot of flower cultivation that uses flowers for scents, fragrances, decorations, and various occasional purposes. Hence cultivation and marketing of flowers offers good pay. There are opportunities for self employment as well as service in large flower plantations. The policies of liberalizations, integration in the field of Agriculture has opened up new scopes in the field.
