In the present market, goods sell on the basis of the level of attraction they provide to the customers. The more attractive the package is, the better is its scope of sale.  The work of engineers in Packaging is to design, develop market and test packages. Packaging technology deals with all aspects of product packaging.

Eligibility:

In order to pursue M.Tech in Packaging technology, the candidate must have a B.Tech from a recognized university. A candidate of chemistry, polymer, or some other discipline as mentioned by the institute may apply. A candidate with an AMIE degree can also apply. The admission to this course is based on the score obtained by the candidate in the GATE examination. Some other universities take admission on the basis of other entrance exams.

Course outlook:

The course M.Tech in Packaging technology is of two year duration. It is a full time course. This two year are divided into four semesters. Each semester is of six month duration. In the first and the second semester, the candidates are taught the core subjects in details. Thorough knowledge in the field of packaging and marketing is provided to the candidate. Emphasis is given on practical training. The third and the fourth semesters are dedicated to thesis preparation and industrial training.

Job prospects:

There is demand of packaging engineers is virtually each and every commodity manufacturing industries. These engineers have the work of designing and production of packages.

    Sameer S:

    No institute in India gives ME/MTECH in Packaging Technology.

    The above mentioned courses are just Post Graduate Diplomas and not even a PG degree course.

    The course is called as PG Diploma not MS, MTECH or MSC . Therefore these courses do not have any value as their students don’t get specific nomenclature like MS, MTECH OR ME etc.

    These institute’s courses are not even approved by AICTE so they cannot be even called as Technology based programmes.
