Candidates having Army background are eligible for Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management (BHM) in Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (AIHM). Duration of BHM course is 4 years. Children of Army personnel who have passed 10 + 2 can also apply. Selection is carried out on the basis of a written exam, comprising questions from topics like reasoning, numerical ability and general awareness.
SSC combined graduate level exam is conducted in three tiers. Tier I and Tier II are conducted as objective model written exams. Tier III comprises of personality test, interview, or computer proficiency test. General Intelligence, Reasoning, and General Awareness form the syllabus of the written test in Tier I and II. Those who are applying for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II, should qualify a paper in Statistics also.

Candidates who have passed SSLC examination can apply for the post of Village Administrative Officer. Recruitment to the post is carried out on the basis of common examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
