National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research was established under the supervision of Indian Council of Medical Research. The centre aims to generate data on magnitude and patterns of cancer. The centre actually came into existence when the Indian Council of Medical Research Limited initiated a network of cancer registries across the country under the National Cancer Registry Programme. The centre is located or situated at IInd floor of Nirmal Bhawan, Bangalore. Sustaining and developing a national research database on cancer is one of the prime objective of the centre. Anantnag District is located in the southern sector of the valley of Jehlum and due to the delicious fruits, fragrant flowers, fertile soil and melodious flow of sweet waters of its springs, its lofty mountains and inspiring majesty, the district has come to be synonymous with greatness.
